About Us
Celebrating Our Legacy, Building Our Future.
In India, we, the Brahmins are a minority and at the same time they are very intelligent, talented, unfortunately most neglected and exploited. We are kept on top of the list forward communities after independence and hence pushed backwards in the name of social justice. Despite our merit, we are the first innocent victims of reservation policy. We have to struggle hard for our survival as a result of Anti Brahmin feelings everywhere. In some places, Brahmins are facing threats for their property and security. As a result, most of our brothers and sisters, especially the younger group have left the country leading to Brahmin Drain, which is nothing, but the brain drains from this country. Those who are here in India do not see a bright future.
Therefore in 1984, some dedicated Brahmins across India came forward and organized a national level organization – All India Brahmin Federation. All India Brahmin Federation was registered in Visakhapatnam as an apex body of all Brahmin organizations and associations in India. I take this opportunity to pay homage and respect to these eminent Brahmins who had a clear vision and mission to protect the interest of Brahmin community in India, and to safeguard our heritage and traditions, religious sentiments, and cultural ethos.
Today the All India Brahmin Federation has state bodies in 29 states and represents 20 crores of Brahmins in India. We have no malice, animosity, or enmity against any caste, creed, or religion. We work shoulder to shoulder with all other people and communities for national development. Our prayer is Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu. We never wished for the welfare of the Brahmin community alone but for the welfare of the whole community.
In the past, Brahmins in our country enjoyed a high degree of respect and recognition from society. By virtue of their habits, high thinking, education, and hard work, they became intelligent, well-read, and talented. As a result, they often became the Purohith (one who wishes the welfare of the town) or Acharya in temples (by virtue of their knowledge of the Vedas, Shastras, Puranas, etc., their capacity to pronounce mantras clearly, and their purity of mind and body). Some of them also became well-known poets, writers, artists, musicians, technologists, scientists, mathematicians, scholars, and academicians.
Many Brahmins in the past enjoyed the patronage of kings and the love, affection, and respect of society. Quite a few of them became teachers in schools or Vaidiks, since Brahman dharma is to learn and teach, to perform yajnas personally and through others, and to both receive and donate.
Brahmins in the past never aspired for power, though they were the kingmakers. Neither were they keen to accumulate money or wealth, as their philosophy of life centered on acquiring intelligence. They never engaged in violence, confrontation, or conflicts with other communities. They always led simple lives with high thinking, minimal needs, and limited requirements. By nature, they remained soft, sober, and harmless—always adjusting and accommodating in their approach.
